Clay Modelling Activity: Nurturing Artistic Skills in Grade 1
On 14th June 2024, the creative spirits of Grade 1 students at Vidhya Peetham i-School were on full display during our exciting clay modelling activity. This engaging event, held on a bright Friday, aimed to develop students’ artistic abilities, coordination, and fine motor skills. It also helped improve their eye-hand coordination, involving the small muscles in their hands and fingers.
Purpose of the Activity ?
1. Developing Artistic Skills : Encouraging creativity and artistic expression through clay modelling.
2. Enhancing Coordination and Motor Skills : Helping children refine their coordination and dexterity.
3. Improving Eye-Hand Coordination : Strengthening the fine motor skills necessary for detailed work.
Activity Instructions ?
The children were instructed to practice making various shapes, such as animals, birds, fruits, and vegetables, with a theme at home. They brought their own clay and trays to display their creations.
Execution of the Activity ?
Each child was allotted a place in the Grade 1 corridor. They enthusiastically began shaping their clay according to their chosen themes. Some crafted rainbows, clouds, fish in a fish tank, and birds in nests with eggs. Others made ladybugs, snakes, octopuses, watermelons, cakes, burgers, pizzas, caterpillars, and pigs. It was stunning to see the children shaping different figures with their small fingers, some even using plastic cutter tools for precise designs.
Clay Modelling – Learning Outcomes ?
