Students from Pre-KG to Grade 11 joined our Ganesh Chaturthi celebration with traditional dress, an adorned Ganesha, dances, speeches and prizes.

On 11 September 2026, Vidhya Peetham i-School marked Vinayagar Chaturthi with a celebration on the school grounds. The Ganesh Chaturthi celebration brought together children from every part of the school, from Pre-KG through to Grade 11, for a day of traditional dress, flowers, dance, speeches and prizes.

The school Ganesha

At the centre of the day was the school's Ganesha idol, which was adorned for the occasion. The idol sat on a stone pedestal topped with fresh green grass, framed by two pillars and a wooden beam hung with marigold garlands and round flower decorations. Brass lamps stood on either side, and the stone floor in front was marked with white kolam patterns.

Plates of fruit, homemade sweets and flowers were laid out before the idol. Flowers were used across the campus too, with decorations hanging from the trees along the main path. Through the day, groups of students gathered around the shrine, many with their palms joined, and posed for photographs beside it.

Traditional dress across the classes

Children of all ages came dressed in traditional wear. The youngest boys wore brightly coloured shirts with veshtis, and the older boys wore shirts and veshtis with coloured borders. Many of the girls wore silk pavadai and half-sarees in shades of gold, pink, green and blue, some with flowers in their hair. With the whole school dressed this way, from Kindergarten to Senior Secondary, the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration had a festive feel from the start.

Dance and speeches at the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration

The programme included dance performances by students, held on the paved courtyard near the shrine while the rest of the school watched, seated along the tree-lined path. One group of girls in traditional dress performed a dance that included seated movements with palms joined. A group of boys in white shirts, with red sashes tied at the waist, performed another.

Students also gave speeches as part of the celebration.

Prizes were presented during the day, and the photographs show students holding trophies and a certificate in front of the decorated shrine.

Celebrations like this give children the chance to take part in a festival together with their classmates, and to experience its customs as part of school life. Our thanks to everyone who helped make the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration such a colourful day for the children.
