Scenario Speaks: Grade 8 Role-Play Real-Life Conversations

Vidhya Peetham i-School   /   18 July 2026   /   2 minute read

On 18 July 2026, our Grade 8 students took part in Scenario Speaks, a life skills activity in which they brought real-life situations to life through short spoken role-plays. Grade 8 Scenario Speaks gave students a chance to practise the kind of conversations they will meet outside the classroom, with their classmates beside them.

What happened at Grade 8 Scenario Speaks

Students worked in small groups, usually of three or four, in front of a brick wall decorated with a hand-lettered “Scenario Speak” sign. Each group acted out a situation through dialogue.

Some groups used simple props to set the scene. One table held bowls of vegetables, fresh greens and a shopping bag. Another had soft toys on it. One group used a pair of boxing gloves, another passed a lunch box across a table, and one scene was set in front of a display board reading “Annual Day”. Other groups needed nothing more than a couple of chairs, with one student standing and speaking to two seated classmates.

The photographs show students listening to one another, responding in turn and using gestures as they spoke, which is what everyday conversation asks of all of us.

Creativity, teamwork and communication

The activity drew on several skills at once. Building a believable scene called for creativity. Working in groups called for teamwork, with each student playing a part in the dialogue. And speaking in front of others, clearly and with confidence, was at the heart of every scenario.

Practising fluency and pronunciation

Each dialogue was a chance to practise fluency, pronunciation and spontaneous speaking. Responding naturally to what a partner says is a skill that grows with practice, and activities like Grade 8 Scenario Speaks give students regular opportunities to build it in a familiar setting, alongside friends.

These are skills that matter well beyond school, whether students are asking for help, sorting out a problem or simply chatting with someone new. As we like to say, every conversation builds confidence.

Well done to all our Grade 8 students for taking part.
