On 14th June 2024, the vibrant young minds at Vidhya Peetham i-School participated in a fun and engaging ball balancing activity designed to develop their gross motor skills. This activity, which took place on a sunny Friday, aimed to improve hand-eye coordination, enhance concentration and focus, and foster teamwork among the children.

Purpose of the Activity

1. Improving Hand-Eye Coordination : Children learned to balance the ball on a towel, requiring precise movements and coordination.
2. Enhancing Concentration and Focus : Keeping the ball centered on the towel demanded full attention and steady hands.
3. Developing Teamwork : The activity required pairs of children to work together, promoting cooperative skills and team spirit.

Activity Instructions

The teachers provided clear instructions to the children:
1. Place the ball on the towel, ensuring it’s centered.
2. Carry the towel with a partner, carefully adjusting if the ball starts to roll.
3. Walk through the chair maze and finally place the ball in the bamboo basket at the end.

Execution of the Gross Motor Skills Activity

The children were taken to the school ground, where the chairs were arranged in three rows with six chairs each. Each pair of children held a towel with a ball placed in the center. They navigated through the chairs, balancing the ball, and finally dropped it into the basket. This hands-on experience was not only fun but also educational.

Learning Outcomes

1. Team Coordination : Children learned the importance of working together to achieve a common goal.
2. Gross Motor Skills : The activity effectively developed their core strength, stability, and motor skills.
